CSE FULL version 4.40 released. Very important new
features and improvements.
The English documentation is ready and available. Version 4.40 is able:
i) to execute elasti-plastic analyses of components;
ii) to build up steel connections using a standard connection database
(presently 170 units) so that creation is automatic;
iii) to store new connections in the parametric connection database, by setting
up connections parametrically.
Many more new features are not listed here.
New LIGHT version release is scheduled by the end of March, 2012.

CLASS4 has been
released. It is presently in Italian only but it is planned its translation into
English. It's a low cost program very helpful for steel designers.
July, 2011
The new software program
CLASS4, dealing with the effective data
computation of typical steel cross-sections, has been completed (presently
Italian only). The typical cross sections are: IPE, HEA, HEB, HEM, RHS, Tee, UPN
(channels), C, Z, L,
W cold formed, with no edge fold, single edge
fold, and double edge fold.
The
parametrized typical connection database of CSE has reached 150
units.
June, 2011
Added about 90 test schedules referred to the new
non linear FEM solver
CURAN. Released
Sargon version 9.70, with
important enhancements of the non linear solver CURAN (truss elements with gap,
non linear springs with gap) and with the addition of the effective area
computation of the thin-walled cold-formed members, thanks to the general
software tool set up one year ago.
An intense developing activity has been ended, aimed at adding very important
new features to the software
CSE: 1) the ability
to create
parametric steel joints or
parametric steel connections
(PRenodes,
parametric real nodes); 2) The
parametrization of the
typical steel joints / steel connections; 3) The creation of a
typical steel
connections database that can be used allowing the node creation by two
clicks; 4) The creation of a CSE LIGHT version, which will be later released: it
will only be able to deal with typical joints (while the full version enables
the free creation of joints and connections). We are presently
adding typical
connections to the database.
February-March, 2011
The new non linear solver CURAN development process moves forward with the
addition of the plate-shell (thick and thin) non linear finite elements, and
membrane elements. Nonlinear plate elements model will be solved using CURAN by
CSE, which will now be able to deal with
elastic-plastic analyses of components like angles, plates (base or end),
members with work processes, and so on. New validation schedules (about 100)
dealing with non linear analysis will soon be added to related the web site
section.
September 2010 - January 2011
CSE is now fully in English.
New standards have been added to CSE: these are IS 800 (indian standard) both
limit states and working stress, and AISC-ASD and AISC-LRFD 2005, i.e. USA
standard both for allowable stress design and for load and resistance factor
design.
Agreements have been signed by Castalia srl with NOMITECH (based in Athens,
Greece), and with RAM CADDSYS PVT. LTD. (based in India at Chennay). See the
distributor page for more detail.
CSE will be distributed in several East Countries and in Greece and Cyprus.
July-August 2010
CSE has been extensively used to check the new
Mediateca (Media House) in Colle Val d'Elsa (Siena) design by Jean Nouvel,
structural design by Ingg. Galluzzi. CSE has been used to check some of the steel connections of this very complex structure.
New features have been added to the program CSE. The English version of the guide has been pre-released (ver. 4.04),
and is going to be aligned to version 4.10 by the first half of September.
June 2010
Ing. Paolo Rugarli, Castalia's owner and technical Director, is going to edit the Italian version of the series
"Designers' Guide to Eurocodes", originally
published by Thomas Telford, London UK. The first books will be in print by September 2010. Ing Rugarli is also in charge of
translating into Italian the first book of the series, Designers' Guide to Eurocode 0 EN 1990: basis of structural design, by Profs.
H. Gulvanessian, J-A Calgaro, and M. Holicky.
May 2010
Many news in the last six months. CSE has now
several tutorials in English. The demo version of CSE will be released
shortly, as docs will be translated into English. Extimated release time for
demo version is mid of June 2010.
The book
Structural Analysis with Finite Elements, by
Paolo Rugarli, is going to
be published at the end of the month.
Tutorial for Sargon are being prepared in English language. They will be
released shortly.
